Three Teens Charged In Robbery, Carjacking Case in West Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Police say they arrested three teens for their involvement in a robbery, carjacking case in west Charlotte.

Officers with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department were called to an armed robbery, carjacking call just before 8:30pm on June 13th on Stoneface Road.  This is near Moores Chapel Road.

The victim told officers he was hit in the head as three suspects took his vehicle at gunpoint.  Responding officers say they located a vehicle that matched the description of the victim’s vehicle and initiated a traffic stop.

The occupants of the stolen vehicle refused to comply and a pursuit ensued, according to a news release.  A short time later, police say the three suspects jumped and ran from the vehicle at 4th Street and Cedar Street.

All three suspects were located and taken into custody a short time later without incident.  Police say the weapons used in the robbery were BB and paintball guns.

Sixteen-year-old Tyshan Springs, a 14-year-old boy and a 15-year-old boy were all charged with multiple felonies.  Police have not released the name of the juveniles.

Springs is facing common law robbery, assault with a deadly weapon, larceny of motor vehicle, felony conspiracy, resisting arrest and felony flee to elude charges.  The 14-year-old has been charged with common law robbery, resisting arrest, assault with a deadly weapon and felony conspiracy.  The 15-year-old has been charged with felony conspiracy and resisting arrest.
