Clover School Board Approves 2019-20 Budget; Four Percent Raise For All Employees

CLOVER, S.C. – The Clover School District Board of Trustees approved a $93.3M operating budget for the 2019-20 school year during its monthly board meeting Monday night.

This year’s budget is an $8.3M (9.8%) increase over last year’s, which includes a five mill operating tax increase. The increase is representative of the growth in the district with 30 new teaching positions, including 10 in the special services department, to maintain the desired student-to-teacher ratios.

The state of South Carolina approved four percent raises for all teacher in the Palmetto State. Valuing all employees, the board of trustees matched the four percent raise for all district employees. Additionally, CSD increased the base of all salary teacher schedules from 13% to 14.5% above the state minimum and approved a two percent step increase. The increase will ensure that starting salaries for all teachers is above $40,000.

The budget also includes an increase in spending for utilities, student supplies, and additional projected growth in the district.
