STATESVILLE, NC — Police say four children are still in critical condition after the vehicle they were riding in pulled out in front of a semi-truck Tuesday afternoon.
Around 12:20 p.m., officials say Talisa Ramseur was driving a 2002 Buick Rendezvous with five small children inside when she pulled out in front of a semi-truck at the intersection of Garner Bagnal Boulevard and Ricker Street.
Investigators say the occupants of the Rendezvous were not properly restrained and three of the children were ejected from the vehicle on impact. Four children were airlifted to Baptist Hospital and are still listed as critical but stable condition, police say.
Ramseur and one child were taken to a local hospital for treatment, and later released.
Police say the five children ranged in age from under a year to 9-years-old.
The semi-truck driver, identified as Stanley McNair, was not injured.
Police say the investigation is ongoing, and no charges will be announced or filed until it is complete.
