2019 USATF Region 4 Junior Olympic Championships Comes To Winthrop University

ROCK HILL, S.C. — On July 4th-7th, the top performing track & field youth athletes in South Carolina, Georgia, and Florida will compete for the opportunity to participate at the USA Track & Field (USATF) Region 4 Junior Olympic National Championships.

The meet will take place at the Irwin Belk Track & Field Complex at Winthrop University. Roughly 2,000 athletes will compete and attendance is estimated to be over 5,000 people, which will potentially generate over $5 million in economic impact.

Athletes attending the USATF Region 4 Junior Olympic Championships will compete in the boys & girls 8-9, 10-11, 11-12, 13-14, 15-16, and 17-18 year old age groups and can compete either as an unattached athlete or as a relay team. The top 5 athletes and top 5 relay teams in each age group for their respective event will earn medals and advance to Nationals. The top 2 athletes in their age group for multi-events including the Triathlon, Pentathlon, Heptathlon, and Decathlon will advance to the national championships. The National Junior Olympic Championships will be held July 22nd – 28th in Sacramento, CA.

Scheduled events include the 100 Meters, 200 Meters, 400 Meters, 800 Meters, 1500 Meters, 1500 Meter Racewalk, 3000 Meters, 3000 Meter Racewalk, 80 Meter Hurdles, 100 Meter Hurdles, 110 Meter Hurdles, 200 Meter Hurdles, 400 Meter Hurdles, 2000 Meter Steeplechase, 4×100 Meter Relay, 4×400 Meter Relay, 4×800 Meter Relay, Triathlon, Pentathlon, Heptathlon, Decathlon, Shot Put, Discus, Javelin, Hammer Throw, High Jump, Long Jump, Triple Jump and Pole Vault.

General Admission is $8 for a single day, $15 for a 2-day pass and $20 for the full meet pass. Seniors ages 62+ get single day tickets for $7, 2-day passes for $13, and full meet passes for $19. Youth tickets for ages 6-12 are $5 for single day, $10 for 2-day pass and $15 for the full meet pass. Children under 5 are admitted for free.
