A man has been charged in the death of 34-year-old Daphne Alvarez-Torres, who was found dead on the side of the road after being hit by a semi-truck last month.
Detectives say 44-year-old Eric Colon was driving the truck that fatally struck Daphne Alvarez-Torres. Colon is charged with Involuntary Manslaughter and Felony Hit and Run. Colon was given a $10,000 bond.
The Monroe Police Department says the case was aided by citizens who provided information during the investigation.
Officials say Colon turned himself in on June 28th after a warrant was issued for his arrest that day.
Investigators say they have located the truck and driver believed to be connected to the death of 34-year-old Daphne Alvarez-Torres.
Police say the investigation is ongoing and no charges have been filed at this time.

MONROE, NC — Authorities say a woman who was reported missing over the weekend and found dead on the side of the road Monday may have been hit by a passing semi-truck.
Police say they are now looking for a white 2018 or newer model Freightliner Cascadia truck. The truck should have damage on the right front quarter panel, according to investigators.
The body of Daphne Alvarez-Torres, 34, was found Monday night on the side of East Roosevelt Road just before Secrest Avenue. Police say she was last seen walking out of Tyson Foods around 3:00 a.m. Saturday morning.
The incident is believed to have occurred between 3:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. Saturday near where her body was found on East Roosevelt.
Police say this is an active death investigation.
