About $50k Worth Of Horror Movie Memorabilia Stolen From South Charlotte Storage Unit

CHARLOTTE, NC. — Thousands of dollars worth of horror movie memorabilia stolen from a storage unit in South Charlotte. The owner of the merchandise is demanding answers.

Charles Robinson keeps some of his horror movie memorabilia in what he calls, his ‘Horror Room’.

“I just love horror movies. That’s it, period,” says Robinson.

He started collecting about 40 years ago.  Robinson moved some of his collection to Extra Space Storage on Ardrey Kell Road. His stuff was there for about two months. Then on May 28th:

“Opened the door and about 90% of the boxes were gone.”

Robinson says dozens of items worth about $55,000 are missing.

A spokesperson with Extra Space Storage says:
This was an unusual, targeted break-in and we are working to assist local authorities with their investigation however we can. We have turned over all our surveillance footage to local authorities.

The spokesperson tells WCCB there are 18 cameras at the facility. They cover the outside of the building along with elevators and entrances on each floor. Robinson says there are no cameras aimed at the units.

“We were led to believe that everything was covered by cameras. Elevators, entrance ways, but most importantly the hallways where the units are located.”

He believes the thieves got in from a space above the door and says the locks were easy to manipulate.

CMPD says no arrests have been made.
