CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Emergency crews assisted 46 people Thursday after roofing tar caused fumes to fill a south Charlotte business, according to officials.
The Charlotte Fire Department says they responded to a building on Regency Executive Park Drive in reference to an unknown odor in the building. MEDIC sent two mass causality buses to the scene to assist in checking on all the patients.
Officials say roofing tar leaked into an AC Unit, which created an unknown fume inside the building.
A total of 46 patients were evaluated for non life threatening conditions. Five were transported to local hospitals.
