ROCK HILL, S.C. — Between July 11-14, Rock Hill, SC, famously known as “Football City USA” will host the Football University (FBU) Top Gun Showcase, the biggest showcase event in the country for both middle school and high school football players.
Top Gun features the best of the best in middle school and high school from all across the country in an elite showcase environment designed to test mental and physical football skill. Athletes from 40 states and 3 Canadian provinces will get elite training from FBU’s staff of 60 NFL coaches.
105 student-athletes from the Carolinas, around 10% of the total athletes in attendance, gives local football players a tremendous opportunity for the exposure to national competition that FBU provides.
Several local star athletes started their path to football success at Football University, leading them to the All-American Bowl, college football and, for some, the NFL: Will Grier; Dexter Lawrence; Keenan Allen; Sam Howell; Derion Kendrick; BT Potter and others. All FBU Top Gun alumni, and all participated in the All-American Bowl on NBC.
This year’s Showcase will not be the final stop this year for many of the Top Gun athletes in attendance. The selection committees for the All-American Bowl on NBC and the FBU Freshman All-American Bowl Powered By Adidas will be extending invites.
On top of that, there will be 150 invitations to the National Combine in January in San Antonio, the nation’s top underclassman event.
In addition to the invitations being handed out to the elite athletes, 247Sports and XOS Digital representatives will be in attendance to analyze and create updated scouting reports of top performers, as the final tune-up and scouting report before the 2019 football season begins.
