CHARLOTTE, NC — The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department is currently accepting applications for the fall 2019 session of its Citizens’ Academy.
The 6-week on-campus academy provides participants with an up-close look at the CMPD and the services it provides to the community.
The academy includes a series of lectures, online learning, simulated activities, demonstrations, practical sessions, and tours. Participants will meet on Tuesday evenings and have an opportunity to invite family and friends to activity day that is held on a Saturday. The academy is held at our CMPD Training Academy, 1770 Shopton Road, Charlotte.
Topics covered include but not limited to:
- Police Officer Employment Selection and Training
- Crime Prevention and Use of Crime Analysis
- Traffic Stops
- Police Driving
- Firearms Training
- Community Policing
