Person Of Interest Cleared In Attempted Abduction In Gaston County

Police say they have cleared the person of interest of any involvement in an alleged attempted kidnapping in Gaston County over the weekend.

GASTON COUNTY, N.C. — Authorities in Gaston County are looking for a person of interest following the attempted kidnapping of a seven-year-old girl.

On Saturday, July 20th, 2019, police say a man tried to kidnap the victim on Tryon School Road outside of Bessemer City.

The suspect is described as a white male, about six feet tall with facial hair.  He was last seen wearing a bright orange shirt, grey shorts and boots.

Gaston County Police Detectives located a man fitting the description on surveillance video from a convenience store near the location of the incident.

The person identified was operating a red and black Peace Sports moped and was seen on the video about 30 minutes before the attempted kidnapping.
