Novant Health Healthy Headlines: Heat-Related Illnesses

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Exertional heat stroke is one of three leading causes of sudden death in sports. The good news is heat stroke is 100 percent preventable for young athletes, many who soon will be launching into their
fall seasons.

Dr. Eric Warren, Medical Director at Novant Health Sports Medicine, is here to discuss the
warning signs of heat illness and what to do if you see any of these symptoms in yourself, someone you
know or a team you’re coaching.
