Driver Wanted After Road Rage Shooting In Union County

UNION COUNTY, NC — Authorities are trying to find a motorist they say fired several shots at another driver during a road rage encounter Thursday night.

The victim told deputies he was driving down Wesley Chapel Road around 7pm when the driver of a black Ford F-350 dually style pickup truck began following him and blowing his horn.

When the two vehicles approached the roundabout on Goldmine Road, the suspect reportedly passed the victim and stopped abruptly in the middle of the road. The victim says the man got out of his truck with a handgun, pointed the weapon while threatening to kill him, fired a shot and took off.

The victim says he lost sight of the suspect vehicle in the Mineral Springs area and was unable to read the license plate.

No one was injured, deputies say, but a shell casing was recovered where the incident reportedly took place.

The suspect is described as a thin white male in his late 20’s or early 30’s with blond receding hair. His truck is additionally described as having a sticker in the rear window with an advertisement for a construction business.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Union County Sheriff’s Office at 704-283-3789 or Crimestoppers at 704-283-5600.
