Three People Dead, One Injured In Domestic Related Shooting In Hickory

HICKORY, N.C. — Three people are dead and one person is recovering after being shot multiple times in a domestic related shooting in Hickory, according to the Hickory Police Department.

Officers say they responded to an apartment on 17th Avenue NE just after 9pm on August 12th in reference to a shooting.  When they arrived on the scene, officers say they found 32-year-old Roxanne Mitchem dead in the yard.

Officers say they were notified of a second victim, 32-year-old Dorrian Pearson, who ran from the apartment after being shot multiple times.  He was located one block away.  Pearson was transported to a local hospital and is currently being treated for his injuries.

A short time later, officers say they found 34-year-old Jessica Fowler and her estranged husband, 37-year-old David Covington, dead inside the apartment on 17th Avenue NE.  Investigators say Covington died from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Two small children were inside the apartment at the time of the incident, but were not injured, according to a news release.  Anyone with information regarding this on-going investigation is encouraged to call the Hickory Police Department at 828-328-5551.
