Motorcycle Riders Hit The Streets To Help “Stop The Violence” In Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, NC — Motorcycle riders took to the streets of Charlotte Sunday afternoon for a ride to “Stop The Violence.”

Mike Smith helped organize the charity ride and fundraiser over the past few months. Then, last week his 23-year-old son was shot and killed in north Charlotte.

The bike ride started on West Trade Street and ended at Freedom Park Sunday afternoon.

Will Adams with The United Neighborhoods of Charlotte says, “Everybody who’s been affected by murder, or violence of some sort, has come together to say we’re going to ride through the City of Charlotte to say stop this violence and just get the awareness out there.”

CMPD has investigated 72 homicides so far this year. There were 58 total in 2018.
