CHARLOTTE, NC — With early voting in the North Carolina 9th Congressional District race underway, President Donald Trump announced Thursday night on Twitter that he will hold an upcoming rally for Republican candidate Dan Bishop.
Trump says he is “looking forward to soon being in North Carolina to hold a big rally,” but did not release any specifics on when or where the event will take place.
In October 2018, President Trump held a rally at Bojangles’ Coliseum in Charlotte for then 9th District Republican candidate Mark Harris.
Harris went on to narrowly defeat Democrat challenger Dan McCready, but his election was voided after evidence of voter fraud and ballot tampering on the part of a Harris campaign employee, McCrae Dowless, surfaced in Bladen County.
(R) Dan Bishop now faces (D) Dan McCready in a new election for the 9th Congressional District seat. Early voting is currently underway in that race and will go through September 6th.
The general election will be held on September 10th.
We will update this story on the president’s visit when that information is made available. Check back for updates.
