Mecklenburg County Sheriff Addresses Immigration Concerns

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Mecklenburg County Sheriff Garry McFadden is at the center of a national immigration debate. The Sheriff, who has been criticized for not working with ICE, and his decision to end the 287-G program stopped by Rising to address immigration concerns, specifically HB 370. The bill would have forced North Carolina Sheriffs to comply with ICE detainer program and was vetoed by Governor Roy Cooper this week.
