Two UNCC Students Among Three Injured In Shooting That Left One Dead Over The Weekend

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The CMPD says an argument led to a shooting that killed one person and injured and three others near UNCC on Saturday morning.

According to the CMPD, officers responded to a shooting on Rebecca Bailey Drive, near University City Boulevard, at about 12:52 a.m. on Saturday morning.

Detectives say a multiple people were standing outside of a party when the argument took place.  Shots were fired shortly after the argument and four people were struck.

Arriving officers located a 19-year-old Christian Malik Estes, who had been shot, in front of the apartment complex.  Two women who had been shot were located in the back of the apartment.

MEDIC took all three victims to Atrium Health’s Carolinas Medical Center, where Estes was later pronounced dead.

The two women, who are both students at UNCC, are being treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

A fourth victim arrived at the hospital with a life-threatening gunshot wound to the chest.
