A Driver Dodging Bullets During What Appears To Be Road Rage In West Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, NC. — A driver dodging bullets during what appears to be road rage in West Charlotte. That driver is okay tonight, but he’s desperate for police to find the shooter.

Dashcam video from inside a dump truck shows a silver car illegally pass on Sunset Road in West Charlotte, and then take off. When you slow it down frame by frame, you see the guy has a gun!

The truck driver says the man fired three shots at him around noon on Friday. One bullet hit his truck. He says the car was tailgating him on the 35 mile per hour road. Even running another car off the road. He doesn’t want to show his face because he doesn’t want the shooter to come after him.

“I don’t know if I was more mad or scared. Or a little bit of both,” says the driver.

Moments later, the car takes a right on Beatties Ford Road. The truck driver spotted the car a few miles later parked on the side of the road. As he got closer, the suspect took off. He believes the shooter waited for him for some reason.

The victim called police, filed a report and sent the video to CMPD. He says he hasn’t heard from police.

“I’d like to see them get a little bit more active in the case as far as the video is concerned or maybe try to handle it and see if they can get a reading off the tag on the video.”

He says the shooter needs to be arrested.

“They could do it to anybody. It could’ve been your grandmother in your car. It could’ve been me and my family in my car.”

WCCB reached out to CMPD. We’re told they’re investigating this incident, an arrest has not been made at this point and the victim will be contacted immediately.

The car is a silver, four-door, 2017 Hyundai Elantra.
