ROCK HILL, S.C. — Multiple students are in police custody following a fight at South Pointe High School Friday morning. Officials with Rock Hill Schools say multiple law enforcement agencies responded to the school just before the first bell rang due to a fight.
During the altercation, eight students were taken into custody by police, according to a news release. The school was placed on lockdown from 8:15am to 1oam to allow law enforcement and school officials to determine if additional students were involved.
During this time, officials say staff members sent phone messages to parents to inform them of the situation. The school resumed normal operations at 10:15am. As a cautionary measure, Rock Hill Department officers will remain at the school for the remainder of the day.
No other details have been released at this time.
