CMPD Clears 25 Armed Robbery Cases With 12 Arrests
CHARLOTTE, NC — Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department say more than two dozen armed robbery cases, which primarily targeted the Hispanic community, have been cleared.
The investigations have resulted in 12 arrests so far throughout the division, officials say. According to police reports, the crimes took place between July 13th and September 11th. Police say the suspects would break up into groups and go on robbery sprees.
CMPD says they also expect “many more cases” to be solved in the near future.
WCCB Charlotte’s Alexandra Elich spoke to one of the victims. Jose Sanchez says on July 22nd, he left his apartment on Dindan Lane in Steele Creek to buy medicine for his son around 4 am. Moments later, a man came up and put a gun to his head, demanding his wallet and phone.
“Yeah, I was very scared because he had a gun on my head, so anything that I could try he would probably kill me,” says Sanchez.
Sanchez gave the perp what he asked for, he ran off. Then Sanchez called police.
