Motorcycle Driver Involved In July Wreck Dies From Injuries

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A driver who was injured when his motorcycle collided with a vehicle in July has died, according to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.

The accident happened on July 6th, 2019 around 6 p.m on Sunset Road near the intersection of Beatties Ford Road.

Officials say 34-year-old Donald Goodson Jr, succumbed to his injures on September 9th, 2019, at Atrium Health Main.

Police say Goodson Jr. and 40-year-old Michael Sheldon Reid were riding motorcycles west on Sunset Boulevard, when they ran into the back of a Lexus sedan that had pulled out of a convenience store and was slowing down to pull into another business.

The driver of the Lexus, 49-year-old Timothy Cathcart, immediately stopped and called 911.

Investigators believe speed was a factor for Goodson Jr. and Reid.
