North Carolina’s 9th district will finally be represented in Washington, as Republican Dan Bishop will be sworn-in today. Bishop beat Democrat Dan McCready by nearly four thousand votes in a special election last week. Bishop says he plans to use the seat to help defend President Trump, and is ready to get things done for the American people. The ceremony begins at 6-30.

New this morning, an Alabama police department is mourning an officer killed in the line of duty. Tuscaloosa police confirm officer Dornell Cousette was shot and killed yesterday after a gun battle with a wanted suspect. Cousette, a 13-year veteran, leaves behind two daughters and a fiance.

President Trump’s tax returns may finally be released. The New York county district attorney’s office has issued a subpoena for both Trump’s personal and corporate tax returns. An attorney for the Trump organization says they are evaluating the subpoena and will respond as appropriate.

New England Patriots wide reciever Antonio Brown faces new sexual assault allegations this morning. An unamed second woman claims Brown exposed himself to her while she was working on a mural for him at his Pittsburgh home in 2017. Brown’s first accuser, Britney Taylor, met with NFL executives Monday, as the league investigates her claims of rape and sexual assault. Brown’s legal team has denied quote “each and every allegation.”

The first peanut allergy drug is one step closer to hitting the market. An advisory committee voted in favor of the drug Palforzia Friday. It’s designed to lessen the severity of allergic reactions for kids ages four to 17 who are exposed to small amounts of peanuts.
