Sandy Hook Parents Release Chilling ‘Back To School’ PSA
A chilling public service announcement is meant to show the new normal for kids in America.
At first it appears to be a typical back to school commercial, with kids showing off their new backpacks and binders, but then shifts to show the students using their new school supplies to save their own lives from a school shooter.
A non-profit called Sandy Hook Promise produced the video.
The group was founded by parents who lost children in the Sandy Hook massacre, in 2012.
The video is part of a larger campaign aimed at educating students, teachers and parents about the signs of a potential school shooter and intervening before it is too late.
According to Sandy Hook Promise, most mass shootings are planned six months to a year in advance and the group says that in nearly every case, there were warning signs that were not acted upon.
