Man In Custody Following SWAT Situation In Catawba County

CATAWBA COUNTY, N.C. — Deputies say a man is in custody after a SWAT situation ended peacefully in Catawba County.

Deputies with the Catawba County Sheriff’s Office were called to a home on Bolton Road just after 1:30am Thursday in reference to a report of a possible hostage situation stemming from a domestic disturbance.

During the course of the investigation, deputies determined there was not a hostage situation but the suspect, 48-year-old Luis Angel Vidal, was wanted on outstanding felony warrants out of Lincoln County and the state of New York.

SWAT was called in after attempts to get Vidal to surrender were unsuccessful, according to a news release.  Vidal was eventually taken into custody around 6:30am.
