Dozens of Dogs Seized from Suspecting Fighting Operation Need Second Chance

YORK CO., S.C. – Dozens of dogs rescued from a suspected animal fighting operation in York County will soon be available for adoption. 42 dogs were officially surrendered to York County Animal Control on Monday. They previously belonged to Anthonio Orr.  Orr is accused of mistreating the dogs, animal fighting, and drug charges. The dogs were being held as evidence as the case progressed.

Staff at the shelter say they had to scramble to make room for the dogs. Shelter Director Bobbie Comer tells WCCB, “People just in our local York County area…stepped up to foster animals that were already in the shelter. We had numerous families that were considering adopting, that went ahead and took the dive and came in, adopted animals to make space.”

Comer says they have 17 puppies and 30 adult dogs from the suspected dog fighting operation. The animals will all undergo health and behavior evaluations before being put up for adoption.

If you’d like to meet the dogs, the York Co. Animal Shelter is located at: 713 Justice Boulevard, York, SC 29745.  Their phone number is 803-628-3190.
