Two Women Arrested For Carjacking In Matthews

MATTHEWS, N.C. — Matthews Police say they arrested two women for a carjacking that happened in August.

A Matthews police officer was flagged down by a man who was standing on Sam Newell Road near the intersection of Crews Road just after midnight on August 4th, according to a news release.

The man told the officer he had met up with a woman that was an acquaintance of his and they were in his vehicle when another woman came up and sprayed him in the face with pepper spray.  The man said the women took his vehicle and drove off in an unknown direction.

During the course of the investigation, detectives say they were able to identify the women.  Makalia Griffin and Lakendra Jackson were both arrested and charged with common law robbery, conspire to commit felony larceny and possession of a stolen motor vehicle.
