Gaston County 3-Year-Old In Critical Condition After Being Found Unresponsive In Pool

GASTON COUNTY, N.C. — A Gaston County toddler is in critical condition after nearly drowning over the weekend.

On Saturday, September 21st, 2019, at about 11:21 a.m., Gaston County Police responded to a possible drowning at a residence on Holly Hills Drive near Lewis Drive.

Arriving officers found a 3-year-old child unresponsive in a pool in the backyard of the residence.

Gaston Emergency Medical Services responded and began treatment.  The child was initially taken to CaroMont Regional Medical Center and later transferred to Levine Children’s Hospital in Charlotte.

As of Monday morning, the child was listed in critical condition.

The incident is under investigation and more information will be released as it develops.
