A Speeding Van, Driving Through Elementary School Campus, Trying To Run Over Kids

CHARLOTTE, NC. — A speeding van, driving through a Charlotte elementary school campus, trying to run over kids! A spokesperson for Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools says no one got hurt.

According to a police report, an employee with Governor’s Village Stem Academy on Neal Road reported a man in a white van speeding through school property, trying to run over kids. It happened around 12:45 in the afternoon on Wednesday.

“I’m mortified. Actually probably bothers me more that I wasn’t informed by the school. I think that’s probably the biggest thing at this point,” says parent Alaina Williams.

Williams says she didn’t get any sort of notification from the school. In fact, she still hadn’t heard what happened 24 hours later, until WCCB Charlotte’s Alexandra Elich told her.

WCCB asked CMS if parents were notified, and if they were not, why weren’t they? We have not heard back from the district.

The police report says the driver of the van is a white male with gray hair.

Police say no arrests have been made. This is an active and ongoing investigation.
