CMPD: Robbery, Carjacking Suspect Still On The Run

CHARLOTTE, NC — Police are still trying to find a man accused of robbing three women in the University City area and taking their vehicle Wednesday night.

The victims were reportedly sitting in a car in the parking lot of an apartment complex on Lewis Street at Ikea Boulevard when the suspect approached them around 11:14pm. Police say he was armed with a gun and robbed the women before taking off in their 2013 Chevrolet Impala.

No one was injured during the crime.

Around 1am on Thursday, police say the vehicle was found abandoned on Fincher Boulevard, roughly six miles away from where the robbery occurred. A resident called 911 when they spotted the car broken down in the street.

Investigators say the suspect came to the Lewis Street apartment complex in another vehicle, a Chevrolet Malibu, which had been stolen during another robbery on Wednesday in Thomasville. Two people were shot during that crime, according to CMPD.

The suspect is still on the run. He is described as a white male, roughly 30 years of age, very short hair, large gauge earrings, and multiple tattoos including on his face.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600 or 911.
