Injured Black Bear Safely Captured In Concord

CONCORD, NC — A black bear spotted roaming through a Concord neighborhood Thursday morning has been captured.

The bear sighting was reported when a resident in the Carriage Downs Community saw the animal limping down her driveway. She said the bear appeared to be scared and hurt.

Concord Police and North Carolina Wildlife Management officials responded to the area and located the injured black bear.

The bear was safely captured, officials say, and transported to the NC Zoo in Asheboro for evaluation and treatment of an injured leg.

Once treated, officials say the bear will be released.
