3 Additional Suspects Charged With Killing Man In Northeast Charlotte Apartment

The Latest:

CMPD has charged three additional suspects in connection to the April 6th murder of Derrick Chambers.

Malik Benson, 23, Trevonte House, 27, and Keniya Guyton, 18, have each been charged.

Benson was reportedly arrested Wednesday on unrelated charges. House was arrested on Friday, police say, and Guyton was already in custody for an unrelated homicide on July 25th.

Benson and Guyton have each been charged with murder, attempted murder, attempted robbery with a dangerous weapon, conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon, and possession of firearm by felon.

Police have not released any information on House’s charges at this time.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A suspect has been charged after a man was found shot to death inside of a northeast Charlotte apartment on April 6th.

Diyondre Wilson, 17, was arrested Friday morning after police say he turned himself in at the Mecklenburg County Jail. Wilson is charged with the murder of 31-year-old Derrick Lamar Chambers.

On Saturday, April 6th, around 9:39 pm, officers responded to a call to assist MEDIC at an apartment complex on Barrington Drive.

Arriving officers located Chambers suffering from a gunshot wound.  He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say a second man was taken to Atrium Health and treated for non-life threatening injuries sustained in the incident.

Wilson is also charged with Attempted First Degree Murder, Attempted Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon and Conspiracy to Commit Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon.

The case is still under investigation and more information will be released as it develops.
