Matthews Police: 10 Pounds Of Marijuana, Guns Discovered In Vehicle After Driver Found Unconscious At Stop Sign

MATTHEWS, N.C. — Matthews Police say they arrested a driver who was found unconscious in his vehicle at a stop sign.  The man, Daniel Girich, reportedly had 10 pounds of marijuana, two guns and drug paraphernalia in his car.

Officers say they responded to Sam Newell Road just before 1pm on September 27th in reference to an unconscious driver that was sitting at a stop sign.

The man was transported to Novant-Matthews for treatment.  During the investigation, police say they discovered that Girich had drugs and guns in his vehicle.

He was arrested and charged with trafficking marijuana, felony possession of marijuana, maintaining a dwelling, possession with the intent to sell or deliver, possession of drug paraphernalia and driving while license revoked.
