3 Suspects Now Charged In Deadly East Charlotte Shooting

CHARLOTTE, NC — CMPD has now charged three suspects in connection to the May 6th murder of 59-year-old Melvin Bell.

On Tuesday, CMPD announced the arrest of Kendale Burris, 23. Burris is charged with accessory after the fact to first degree murder.

On September 28th, detectives charged Datarius McHam, 22, and Zsaquan Burris, 21, in connection to Bell’s death.

McHam is charged with murder. Burris is charged with accessory after the fact to first degree murder.

Around 11:17pm on Sunday, May 6th, officials say shots were fired on Washburn Avenue near Monroe Road while officers were responding to an unrelated call. Upon arrival, CMPD say Bell was found lying in the road with a gunshot wound.

Medic pronounced him dead at the scene.
