Panthers QB Kyle Allen To Make 3rd Straight Start
After 2 Straight Wins, Backup QB Kyle Allen Will Start Again Against Jacksonville.
After two straight wins, the Kyle Allen show will continue in Carolina.
“Well, I think if we’re going forward right now, Kyle is going to start.” Ron Rivera said on Monday, “and we’ll just go from there.”
#AsExpected – the head coach says that he expects Allen to start at quarterback for the third straight week when the Panthers host the Jaguars. And why wouldn’t he?
Cam Newton is still on the mend… and all Allen seems to do is win. The backup QB is undefeated, now 3-and-0 as a starter.
But, in addition to winning, he sure does fumble a lot. In his two starts this season, Allen has fumbled five times, losing four of them. Despite three strip-sacks by the Texans, he did make plays when he needed to, and the young quarterback vows he’ll do everything he can to correct the problem.
“I’ve got to work on it constantly. I’ve got to have two hands all week long this week. It’s different, obviously, I haven’t played in a lot of games, but I need to get those reps with ball security because it’s crucial to our team, I can’t put our team in those standpoints,” Allen said after Sunday’s 16-10 win in Houston.
“For me, I’m playing until I’m told I’m not playing. I told everybody this before that I”m going to prepare like I’m going to play no matter what. Even if I know I’m the number two going into the game or not. So, I mean, it’s simple for me.”
