CMPD Arrests Women Accused Of Leaving Toddlers In Car While Committing Crime Inside Charlotte Mall

CMPD says the two women wanted for allegedly leaving two children in a car outside Northlake Mall while committing crimes inside have been arrested.

On Tuesday, CMPD announced the arrest of Resa Washington, 27, and Tiyana Edmonds, 27.

Washington was wanted for Child Neglect, Larceny, Resisting Public Officer, and Driving While License Revoked. Edmonds was wanted for Child Neglect, Larceny, and Resisting Public Officer.

Police say they were detained together in 2015 and cited for unlawful concealment.

CHARLOTTE, NC. — Two toddlers left in a car outside a Charlotte mall, while police say the two women they were with committed a crime inside. A good Samaritan is credited with keeping the children from getting hurt.

According to a police report, two toddlers were left alone in a car while two woman shoplifted from Northlake Mall on Tuesday. Officers were called to the scene just before one in the afternoon.

A two-year-old then got out of the vehicle and was walking around this busy parking lot until a good Samaritan stopped to help.

The toddler had minor injuries.

A spokesperson for the mall says one of the woman snatched the child back from the Samaritan and they took off.

CMPD says no arrests have been made.
