4 High School Students Injured In Union County Rollover Accident

MONROE, NC — Officials say four Parkwood High School students were injured Wednesday afternoon following a rollover accident about two miles from the school.

The accident happened around 3:35pm on Crow Road at Luther Lane when investigators say the driver went off the right side of the road and over corrected. The Union County Sheriff’s Office says the vehicle then rolled over.

Officials say two students suffered serious injuries, including one student that was airlifted and one that was transported by ambulance. The other two students were transported to the hospital by parents.

The NC State Highway Patrol is investigating. The students have not yet been identified, and no charges have been filed.

According to the Parkwood High School Athletics Twitter account, a Powder Puff Football game scheduled for tonight has been canceled “due to circumstances beyond our control.” It is unclear at this time whether the game’s cancellation is related to today’s accident.
