CMPD Charges Suspect In Deadly Shooting At South Charlotte Shopping Center


CHARLOTTE, NC — CMPD says the suspect in a south Charlotte homicide investigation has been arrested.

Quantez Bazley, 29, is accused of fatally shooting 33-year-old Alonzo Parker around 4:40pm on Thursday, October 3rd.

The shooting happened at the Sharon Lakes Retail Plaza on Sharon Lakes Road near South Boulevard. Medic says Parker was pronounced dead on arrival at the scene.

CMPD says Bazley and Parker got into an “altercation” in the parking lot, which then spilled into the roadway. Bazley reportedly shot into Parker’s Ford Edge SUV causing him to crash into a power pole outside the shopping center.

Bazley was arrested Friday and charged with Murder, Shooting Into Occupied Property Causing Serious Bodily Injury, and Shooting Into Occupied Property.

Police have not said what started the altercation or how the two men were acquainted.
