Arrest In String Of Burglaries At Apartments In South End And Uptown

CHARLOTTE, NC. — Police have arrested a man in connection to a string of brazen burglaries at apartments in South End and Uptown.

Police say 44-year-old Rahime McGlon has been following residents through the controlled access doors and gates at apartment complexes, then looking for unlocked apartments to enter. He’s stolen driver’s licenses, debit cards and credit cards.

Residents of Camden Gallery Apartments say McGlon struck on Saturday.

“It was something that definitely kind of freaked us out. We’ve made an effort to make sure our door is locked at all times,” says South End resident Bennett Daley.

Some residents think apartments could do more to protect the people who live there.

“I wish they would put notifications up on the doors, if you see someone please call 911 or let the complex know,” says one woman.

McGlon is facing several charges including breaking and entering, financial card fraud and first degree trespassing.
