Suspect Charged In Verbal Altercation That Turned Deadly Outside A South End Bojangles

The Latest:

Police say 22-year-old Demetrius Shivers-Adams has been charged with the October 21st murder of Ronnie Franklin.

Shivers-Adams was located in Richmond County, Georgia where he is being held on unrelated charges. Officials say he will be extradited the Mecklenburg County to face the murder charge, but it is unclear when that will take place.

This is an ongoing investigation. Check back for updates.

Update (October 22, 2019):

The victim has been identified as 33-year-old Ronnie Lamont Franklin.

The case is still under investigation.

Original Story (October 21, 2019):

CHARLOTE, N.C. — The CMPD is investigating a homicide after a man was shot to death outside the Bojangles in South End, Charlotte.

The shooting occurred around 5 p.m. on Sunday, October 20th, at the Bojangles located at the intersection of West Boulevard and South Tryon Street.

Arriving officers located a man who had been shot outside of the restaurant.  He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators say there was a verbal altercation between a group of customers inside the restaurant before the shooting.

The CMPD says the suspect fled the scene in a newer model Nissan Rogue.

The investigation is ongoing and more information will be released as it develops.
