Visit York County, Rollin’ Hornets Hosting National Wheelchair Basketball Tournament At Winthrop University

ROCK HILL, S.C. — The Charlotte Rollin’ Hornets will host the Queen City Classic Wheelchair Basketball Tournament on November 9th and 10th at Winthrop University’s West Center.

The tournament will consist of a total of 19 teams including 232 athletes and coaches from different states across the nation.

Varsity teams competing in the Queen City Classic Wheelchair Basketball Tournament will include teams from Alabama, Georgia, Maryland, North Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia. Three teams from North Carolina along with teams from Alabama, Georgia, Florida, South Carolina, Virginia, Maryland, and New York will make up the prep teams.

The varsity and prep teams are made up of youth athletes. All nine varsity teams competing in the tournament will be ranked in the top 34 in the 2019-20 National Wheelchair Basketball Association (NWBA) Pre-season National Ranking.

The prep division will include the reigning team champions, Bennet Blazers from Baltimore, MD. Other perennial powerhouse teams that will be present include the Charlotte Rollin’ Hornets, Charlotte, NC; Blazesports Jr. Hawks, Atlanta, GA and the N.Y. Rollin Fury, Long Island, NY. Bailey Moody, the 2019 Parapan Silver Medalist from the U.S. Women’s Wheelchair Basketball team, will be present during the tournament.
