Company To Sell Autonomous Robots That Can Be Customized To Look Like Anyone
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – If you’ve ever wanted to clone a friend, a celebrity or even yourself, now you can. Russian startup “Promobot” is selling autonomous robots, which buyers can choose to make look like any person on earth. The company describes the robot as having completely human characteristics. It can copy facial expressions by moving its eyes, eyebrows, and lips.
Its artificial intelligence contains 100,000 speech commands, so it can keep a conversation going and answer questions. The creators have also used technology to make artificial skin and it’s battery can last for eight hours.
Here’s how the creators say it works: “Everyone will now be able to order a robot with any appearance — for professional or personal use. We can build a linguistic model based on popular phrases of a particular person. The robot will communicate and answer questions by analyzing frequent expressions of the ‘original’ and using a certain context of knowledge of this person.”
So if companies wanted to use the bot, it can be used to answer customer questions like in airports, museums or banks. It could even accept payments. But at home, Promobot says the robot can be your personal “companion.” It can read you the news or manage smart appliances, among other things.
Don’t you want one? Our question of the night: who would you want to clone into a robot?
