Lenoir Overdose Call Leads To Multiple Drug Trafficking Arrests

LENOIR, NC — Lenoir Police say several people have been charged with trafficking narcotics after a call for an overdose on November 4th.

The call was made around 3:15pm on Monday at a home on Spruce Street.

Police say Crystal Mooney was found unresponsive in the basement following a reported overdose. Officers administered one dose of Narcan Nasal Spray, officials say, after Mooney showed no signs of a pulse or breathing.

Shortly after the Narcan was given, Mooney reportedly started to recover. She was transported to Caldwell UNC Healthcare for treatment and later discharged.

Following the overdose, detectives obtained and executed search warrants on the Spruce Street home.

Inside they reportedly located 1,070 grams of a cocaine, heroin, fentanyl mixture, a Colt M-4 rifle, an Interarms .45 caliber pistol, and $2,275 in cash. The seized drugs were valued at an estimated $642,000.

Three people were charged with multiple drug related offenses, including trafficking. The suspects and their charges are listed below:

  • Lance Mooney is charged with one count of Felony Trafficking in Cocaine, one count of Felony Trafficking in Opium/Heroin, and one count of Felony Maintaining a Vehicle/Dwelling for the Purpose of Controlled Substance. He received a $1,000,000 bond.
  • Following her release from the hospital, Crystal Mooney was arrested and charged with one count of Felony Trafficking in Cocaine and one count of Felony Trafficking in Opium/Heroin. She received a $1,000,000 bond.
  • William Mooney was charged with one count of Misdemeanor Resist, Delay, or Obstructing a Public Officer after he allegedly tried to come into the crime scene. He is also charged with one count of Misdemeanor Assault on a Government Official after officials say he kicked one of the officers during his arrest. He received a $3,000 bond.
