One Suspect Arrested, Second Suspect Still At Large Following Attempted Murder In East Charlotte Last Month

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — One suspect has been arrested and police are still trying to identify a second suspect following an attempted murder in east Charlotte last month.

According to the CMPD, the incident happened on October 8th, 2019, at about 7:48 p.m. on Lake Drive off of the Plaza.

Police say the victim invited 18-year-old Zymirah Joseph to his residence to smoke marijuana.  Joseph arrived and the victim noticed an unknown man who was with Joseph and hiding.

Joseph tried to get the victim to come out of the house and when that didn’t work, police say the man shot into the house with a handgun.

The victim was shot several times but was able to close the door and keep Joseph and the second suspect out of the house.

Joseph and the shooter fled the scene and MEDIC took the victim to the hospital where he was treated for serious injuries.

On October 6th, 2019, at about 11:45 a.m., CMPD officers located Zymirah Joseph and took her into custody without incident. She is charged with attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon intent to kill inflicting serious injuries, five counts of shooting into an occupied property, and felony conspiracy.
