Georgia Man Charged With Trafficking MDMA Following Traffic Stop In Iredell County
IREDELL COUNTY, N.C. — A Georgia man has been charged with trafficking MDMA following a traffic stop in Iredell County last week.
Steven Lowe, 37, of Atlanta, is charged with Felony Trafficking MDMA by Transportation, Felony Trafficking MDMA by Possession, Felony Possession with Intent to Sell or Deliver MDMA, Felony Maintain a Dwelling or Vehicle for the Sale of a Controlled Substance, and Misdemeanor Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
On Wednesday, November 6th, Iredell County Sheriff’s Deputies stopped Lowe in a 2015 Chevrolet Impala, with Georgia license plates, for a traffic violation.
According to deputies, Lowe said that he was traveling from Connecticut to his home in Atlanta, Georgia. Deputies say Lowe became nervous during the stop and gave inconsistent answers to the deputies’ questions.
Lowe consented to a search of the vehicle before deputies located five plastic containers in the glove box which contained large amounts of MDMA tablets, otherwise known as Ecstasy.
Officials say 485 Ecstasy tablets were seized during the arrest.
Deputies also found digital scales and plastic bags, which authorities say are frequently used to package illegal drugs for sale.
Lowe was arrested and taken to the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office where he was issued a $500,000 securd bond.
