Charlotte Woman Now Oldest Living Person In The United States

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A 114-year-old Charlotte woman is now the oldest living person in the United States, according to the Gerentology Research Group.

Hester Ford was born on August 15th, 1905, in Lancaster, South Carolina and moved to Charlotte in 1953.   According to Gerentology Wiki, Ford had has 12 children, 53 grandchildren, 120 great-grandchildren, and 126 great-great grandchildren. There has been some confusion as to whether Ford was born in 1904 or 1905, but Gerontology Research Group confirms her birth year as 1905.

Ford became the oldest living person in the U.S. on November 23rd, 2019, when 114-year-old Alelia Murphy of New York passed away.  Murphy was born on July 6th, 1905.

There has been some confusion as to whether Ford was born in 1904 or 1905, but Gerontology Research Group confirms her birth year as 1905.
