IREDELL COUNTY, N.C. — Investigators are searching for the driver and vehicle involved in a fatal hit-and-run accident in Iredell County on Thanksgiving Day.
According to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, at about 8:50 p.m. on Thursday, November 28th, 30-year-old Matthew Redden, of Statesville, was traveling east on U.S. 64 in the travel lane, when he was struck from behind by a pickup truck.Β He was thrown from the bike into oncoming traffic, where he was struck by a GMC sport utility vehicle traveling west.
Redden was pronounced dead at the scene.Β Officials say Redden was wearing dark clothing and was not wearing a helmet.
The driver of the GMC immediately stopped, but the driver of the pickup truck did not and continued traveling east on U.S. 64.
Investigators are searching for a 1994-2002 Dodge Ram lifted pickup truck with a loud exhaust.Β The vehicle may be dark colored or black and have damage to the driverβs side front, grill, and headlight area.
