Panthers Olsen In Concussion Protocol Following Helmet-To-Helmet Hit During Sunday’s Game Against Redskins
CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Redskins linebacker Ryan Anderson was ejected from Sunday’ game against the Panthers after delivering a helmet-to-helmet hit on tight end Greg Olsen.
Olsen was taken to the locker room for observation late in the third quarter after he took a shot to the head from Anderson as he headed up field looking for more yardage, while making an 8-yard reception.
The Panthers announced Olsen entered the concussion protocol and did not return to the game.
Olsen appeared to tuck his head while preparing for contact as Anderson came flying in and hit him straight on with his helmet.
Olsen remained on the field for about a minute after the hit, and the crowd booed relentlessly as replays were shown on the scoreboard. The play occurred with about 9 minutes left in the game and the Panthers trailing the Redskins 22-14.
