Traffic Stop Leads To Drug Arrests In Iredell County
IREDELL COUNTY, N.C. — A traffic stop led deputies to a significant drug arrest on I-40 in Iredell County.
Deputies with the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office Interstate Criminal Enforcement Team say they conducted a traffic stop on a BMW on Interstate 40 westbound near mile marker 154 on November 26th.
While speaking with the driver, deputies noticed a very strong odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle, according to a news release. Deputies say they searched the car and found 28.5 grams of cocaine, 72.5 grams of marijuana in individual baggies and six Xanax pills.
Additional marijuana was reportedly found stuffed down the passenger’s pants. Both suspects, Cedric Brown and Chad Sampson, were taken into custody. They have each been charged with felony trafficking cocaine by possession, felony trafficking cocaine by transport, felony possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana, felony possession of marijuana, possession of schedule III and drug paraphernalia.
Both men are from Morganton, North Carolina. Brown received a $300,000 bond and Sampson received a $304,000 bond.
