Iredell County Couple Charged With Stealing, Pawning “Large Amount” Of Tools
MOORESVILLE, N.C. — Two people have been arrested after allegedly stealing tools from a Mooresville man and pawning them in Iredell and Rowan County.
On Saturday, November 30th, 2019, Iredell County Deputy J. Young responded to reports of a larceny on Judas Road near Rankin Hill Road in Mooresville.
The victim told Deputy Young that his home had been broken into and a “large amount” of tools had been stolen. In addition, the victim said that 26-year-old Matthew Suzelis and his girlfriend, 23-year-old Grace Wetmore, admitted to stealing the tools. The victim showed Deputy Young pawn slips that Matthew Suzelis had given him.
The pawn slips indicated that Suzelis and Wetmore had pawned the tools at various pawn shops in and around Iredell and Rowan Counties. Detectives located Suzelis and Wetmore, who gave statements regarding their involvement in three breaking and entering cases. Both were arrested and taken to the Iredell Count Detention Center.
Matthew Suzelis was charged with Felony Breaking and Entering, Felony Larceny after Breaking and Entering, and two counts of Felony Obtaining Property by False Pretense. He was issued a 15,000.00 dollar secured bond.
Grace Wetmore was charged with Felony Breaking and Entering, and Felony Larceny after Breaking and Entering. Grace was issued a 10,000.00 dollar secured bond. v
