Elderly Couple Last Seen In Lincoln County Found Safe

Officials say an elderly couple last seen in Lincoln County on Monday has been found safe.
Lenoir Police found Charles William Whitener, 81, and his wife, Maxine, 80, at the Comfort Inn in Lenoir, North Carolina around 7:30 a.m. on Thursday. Both are in good condition and a family member went to Lenoir to pick them up.

LINCOLNTON, N.C. — A Silver Alert has been issued for a missing endangered man, Charles William Whitener, 81, of Greenville, NC. Whitener and his wife, Maxine Nixon Whitener, 80, were last seen at the residence of a son in the 1600 block of Beth Haven Church Road, Denver, North Carolina on Monday, December 2nd, 2019.
Charles and Maxine Whitener are believed to be suffering from dementia or some other cognitive impairment.
Charles Whitener is described as a black male, six feet tall and weighing around 260 pounds. He has short gray hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing burgundy pants, a blue shirt and blue jacket.
Maxine Whitener is described as a black female, 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighing around 140 pounds. She has medium length black hair and brown eyes.
Authorities believe the couple could possibly be in Tennessee. Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Charles and Maxine Whitener is asked to contact the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office at 704-732-9050 or the Lincoln County Communications Center at 704-735-8202.
